The tenth week once more provided excitement, with a major surprise for the Buffalo Bills demonstrating the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' saying that attracts so many people into the NFL

That result may have opened things up for the New England Patriots to creep back into a top spot they used to occupy, with a remaining games that gives them an advantage over their 8-2 competitors

Over in the NFC the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had perfect results to set up a monster clash next week, while our top performer is chasing records as well as the MVP award

The Breakdown - Simply an Off Day for the Bills?

Could it simply have been an emotional letdown from defeating Kansas City the previous week or something more? That's the question for the Buffalo team to answer

The Buffalo squad had secured seven victories in a row against Miami but were second best from the start as the Dolphins emerged as 30-13 victors in an eye-opening result - and performance

MVP quarterback Josh Allen only achieved the team's initial first down in the third period and initial scoring in the fourth - admittedly Miami had 10 days to get ready but it was nonetheless a significant failure produced by one of the league's top offences

Tua Tagovailoa passed for two touchdowns but rusher De'Von Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 total yards and two touchdowns

Containing the NFL's top running game was also key, with Cook and teammates registering just 86 yards, their lowest of the year and just over fifty percent their 161.5 yard average

Then there were the three critical turnovers, and the two from Allen in particular. An pass caught by defense in the end zone resulting in a nine minute possession produced nothing, and his fourth-quarter fumble that the Dolphins turned into a touchdown just later

It was typical 'previous Bills teams' as they hurt themselves in the foot, getting into a hole on defense and Josh Allen attempting to overcompensate to dig his team from the situation - not the composed, disciplined, well-balanced Bills we've seen this season

The Dolphins have demonstrated a bit of everything this season so the jury's out on whether this is the beginning of something, but for the Bills they'll need an immediate bounce-back in a difficult matchup against the Buccaneers in week 11 as the New England are sneaking into a nice lead at the top of the AFC East

Spotlight - New England See Path to Unexpected First Place

Regarding the Patriots, they're among three different 8-2 squads in the league, all American Football Conference sides, but could they be the top team?

One could pick holes in the Patriots, the Broncos and Indianapolis actually for dominating the weaker opponents, with only five of their total 24 wins coming against opponents with a positive record - and one example was the Indianapolis beating the Denver

The Broncos defeated the champion Eagles in Philly and are masters of the final quarter while Indy can rely on Jonathan Taylor, but the Patriots including Sunday's win in Tampa to their primtime success in Buffalo appears to be a declaration

Their two defeats came in new head coach Vrabel's first three games, with seven straight wins, similar to the Broncos, from that point - but taking down Mayfield after the Bucs had a bye to get ready was huge

Drake Maye's MVP claims continue to be discussed, and he definitely deserves point for courage after absorbing some savage hits in Tampa but hanging in there to guide his team to success

The defense is reliable and first-year running back TreVeyon Henderson burst onto the scene on Sunday with 147 rushing yards and two exciting touchdowns of 55 and 69 yards - establishing himself as just the fifth ball carrier to exceed 22 miles per hour this year on his initial touchdown

While you can argue who 'the best' is technically, the Pats should be favourites to end with the top record thanks to their schedule - which includes just a single matchup against a successful opponent, albeit a huge one against the Bills

Visiting the Ravens is challenging too, but the Broncos have it more difficult in the AFC West division with the Chiefs to face two times, the Chargers (who might also compete for first place but encounter the identical challenge) and additionally the Packers on the fixture list

The Indianapolis also play the Chiefs, and have the Seahawks, 49ers and two matchups with the five and four Jaguars to face. There's a long way to go but the door is available for a surprise top seed in the AFC

Both squads with strong arguments to be superior to all of the three different eight and two teams are National Football Conference West rivals the Seattle and Los Angeles, who each put up forty points to go to seven and two before the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster meeting between the two in Los Angeles

They've both secured four victories in a consecutive games, have signal callers in Matthew Stafford and Darnold playing at an high standard (although Darnold had turnover issues on game day) with excellent pass catchers, and defenses giving up under 20 points a contest

Each could easily be undefeated as too - particularly the Los Angeles as their pair of losses occurred in extra time against the San Francisco and then that agonising loss in Philly when they had a potentially winning field goal with the final play blocked and returned by the Eagles for a score

The Seahawks were also defeated to San Francisco, with a last-minute score in week one, before falling to the final play of the game against the Tampa Bay - so they're truly among the best sides in the NFL

The upcoming game on Sunday could be the most exciting of the season to date
