Brian Eno Encourages Public Help to Get Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Christmas No 1.

A charity drive is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The project hopes to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

An Opportunity for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to support Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”

Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.

“It has a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Production History and Featured Artists

The song was recorded after a solidarity show held in September. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the performance was cut from the show due to the event running long.

The diverse array of performers featured on Lullaby features a range of prominent voices from the scene. All participated in the earlier concert, which managed to collect a substantial amount for relief efforts.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of music creators. The song features a mix of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.

The group managing the project have clarified that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an established charity.

“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a representative said. “We aim for as much as possible. Obviously, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”

The reality in the territory was characterized as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of property described as levelled or seriously harmed.

“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”

The track is launching on Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
