19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev won his first trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after March of that year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 championships at twenty-one various tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.

The player's retrieving approach and regular reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to come to the net and compete positively, supported by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

He defended four early chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
