Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel. Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement. Airspace Engagements In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space. In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East. Iran's Declared Retaliation Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning. That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the regime. Wider Impacts In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage. The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles". "UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," it added. Officials reported missile fragments fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian. The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
