The goalkeeper Not a save required before the break until called into action by Arbër Hoxha’s bent shot. A sliding challenge on an Albanian attacker showed excellent game intelligence. 6/10

John Stones Advanced into midfield when in possession, something he's known for before. On occasion was too casual on the ball and the tactic discontinued at half-time. 6/10

Dan Burn A constant threat from dead balls, per usual, but may be a replacement for his teammate in the backline rather than alongside him. A loose ball in the second half almost led to a goal for the visitors. 6

The young full-back Another assured performance by the rising star following his debut versus another side. A teammate failed to make the opportunity from a gorgeous flick behind the opposing backline. The left-back spot is firmly his at this stage. Seven

The newcomer His maiden beginning with the national team. Slightly sloppy on the ball however his dangerous corners caused problems. A handy tempo-setter available to the manager to utilize against teams who drop deep. Cautioned for a poorly timed tackle. 6

Declan Rice Deliveries from dead balls and set-plays caused problems. Enjoyed license to move down the left flank only to be offside upon receiving in front of goal. Granted a well-earned rest on the hour mark. Six

The star midfielder Played in a forward position down the right and did plenty of defensive duties. Displayed glimpses of brilliance but scuffed an effort high. Replaced in the closing stages for Rogers, his competition, following a yellow card. 7/10

Jarrod Bowen Had the team's best chance in the opening period, his strike excellently kept out from Thomas Strakosha. With Quansah holding position, he had to offer an outlet on the right although his balls into the box varied in quality. Substituted with 15 to go. 6/10

Harry Kane The match-winner scoring two more finishes at international level. The first a classic opportunist's goal while the second an excellent finish with his head after peeling away from his marker. Now 32, he continues to improve with the national team stand a real opportunity in the upcoming tournament when he's in the team. Eight

Eberechi Eze Struggled to influence play on the left flank. Had a decent opportunity after being played in by the midfielder yet Strakosha made the save. His replacement produced a bigger effect after coming on. Five
