The British player reached the third round in three Grand Slam tournaments Grand Slam events in the current campaign.

Britain's Emma Raducanu will not compete in the last two tournaments of the year as a result of a medical condition she has been fighting in recent days.

Raducanu, aged 22 had planned to participate in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to recover ahead of launching plans for the 2026 season.

Her upcoming training will involve coach Francisco Roig, as they have decided to continue collaborating again next season.

Raducanu required blood pressure checks in her opening round with Ann Li in Wuhan and retired when behind 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She needed once more a visit from the doctor at this week's Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

She was also playing far from freely in the final set against Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has affected her on several occasions in 2025.

Such performances meant an encouraging season, in which Raducanu rose into the world's top 30 after more than three years in more than three years, finished with a trio of defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points then was defeated by American player Jessica Pegula in the third stage in Beijing last month.

Raducanu won 28 matches during 2025 and advanced to the semis in Washington, but her most impressive week was at the Miami event in March.

The British number one advanced to the quarters of the WTA 1000 event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament then falling in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She was coached by Mark Petchey as coach from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig taking over in time for the US Open.

The original arrangement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was for the remainder of the year but the collaboration persists, with a training session scheduled for the end of the year.

Raducanu told that her three-day trial with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She nearly succeeded to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their first tournament together in Cincinnati during August.

Roig joined her in the New York tournament, where she advanced to round three before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
