The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification. Online Platforms Backlash Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification. The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces. They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance. Sizing System Changes Earlier, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Member Experiences Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. A different member, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained. Manual Updates Another shopper, based in Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item". "For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated. Platform Context The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users. It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
